THE PROGRAM
01

Why an R1S or R1T deserves full-body PPF on day one.

Rivians are designed for the Cascades — the cars that buy a Rivian use it on gravel access roads, ski-day commutes, and the kind of high-impact-zone driving that creates rock chip damage by week two. The factory paint is good. The high-impact exposure pattern is unforgiving. Full-body PPF on a Rivian is not a luxury — it is the only protection program that matches the vehicle’s intended use. We register every install in the owner’s name with the 10-year manufacturer warranty.

02

The R1S featured on the portfolio.

The Rivian R1S on the homepage portfolio (and featured on the S/02 Paint Protection Film service card) is a representative install — full-body XPEL Ultimate Plus, ceramic system overlay, headlight and window tint to WA-compliant spec. The car runs gravel access from Skykomish to Stevens Pass weekly and the surface still reads delivery-day.

03

Brake dust, road salt, and PNW-winter chemistry.

PNW winter is the chemistry challenge — rain that arrives with brake dust, road salt, and contamination from the I-90 corridor. Ultrafit and XPEL both handle the chemistry well; what matters more is edge-wrap discipline. We wrap every edge, every door jamb, every panel transition — because contamination penetrates film at the weakest edge, not the strongest middle. PNW-winter installs are the most discipline-heavy installs we do.

04

Ceramic systems for Rivian — under or over PPF.

Ceramic coating sits either under PPF (sealing the paint before the film goes on, for double-layer protection against any future film-removal cycles) or over PPF (sealing the film surface itself, reducing wash-induced micro-marring). On a Rivian that sees gravel weekly, we typically run ceramic over PPF — the surface is easier to wash, the film hydrophobic finish is enhanced, and brake-dust adhesion is dramatically reduced.

FAQ

Common questions. On Rivian.

Q/01Is PPF worth it on a Rivian?
On almost every Rivian, yes — particularly the R1S and R1T trims that see gravel and high-elevation drive paths. The Rivian factory paint is acceptable but not exceptional, and the high-impact exposure pattern (gravel, road salt, brake dust) is what PPF was designed for. We see most Rivian PPF installs reach the 10-year warranty mark without measurable degradation.
Q/02Can you PPF a Rivian R1S in the colour I want exposed?
Yes — XPEL Ultimate Plus is optically clear in the finished install. Glacier White, Compass Yellow, Storm Blue, and Forest Green all PPF cleanly. We document the install with photos against multiple light sources at delivery; you see the colour through the film, not the film over the colour.
Q/03Do you do Rivian custom work — fender flares, accessories, off-road builds?
Yes. Custom fabrication for Rivian platforms (fender flares for larger-tire setups, accessory mounts, custom bumper modifications) runs through our S/01 Custom Modifications program. Quoted per car after a scoping consult.
Q/04How long does paint protection film last?
Professionally installed Ultrafit paint protection film carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty against yellowing, cracking, and delamination. In Pacific Northwest conditions, the film typically performs well past the warranty window if washed correctly and not exposed to chemical contamination.
Q/05How much does PPF cost in Seattle?
Full-body PPF on a luxury or exotic vehicle at PACMods starts at the upper end of the Seattle market because we work exclusively with concours-grade Ultrafit film and back every install with a 10-year warranty. Partial coverage (front-end, track package, or high-impact areas) starts lower. Request a private estimate for a vehicle-specific quote.
Q/06What paint protection film do you install?
PACMods installs Ultrafit — a top-tier self-healing paint protection film with a 10-year warranty. It is optically clear, hydrophobic, and swirl-resistant; we select the coverage tier and finish (gloss or matte) per vehicle and intended use, from daily-driven streets to dedicated track time.
Q/07How do I pay, and do you take a deposit?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments. Payment is due on completion, before the vehicle leaves, unless the written quote says otherwise. A deposit may be required where the build needs parts we order in and those parts come to more than $500 — it covers the order, and it is set out on the written quote before any work starts. We do not bill insurance carriers, so the number on your written quote is the number you pay.
Q/08Do you work with insurance companies?
PACMods is an independent shop by intention and does not work with insurance carriers. We perform cosmetic and collision repair on a direct-pay basis for owners who want concours-quality work without the carrier-driven shortcuts that compromise luxury vehicles. We can help you understand what an insurance reimbursement might cover, but the work itself is between you and us.
