OVERVIEW

Paint Correction & Detail. Multi-stage correction, ceramic, concours detail.

Paint correction is where the car gets its surface back. Most "details" are wash-and-wax. Correction is multi-stage compounding and polishing under controlled lighting — the work that removes the swirls, the holograms, and the buffer trails an inattentive shop leaves behind. We run single, two, and three-stage programs depending on what the paint will tolerate and what the owner wants the surface to read.

StartingFrom $1,500 (single-stage) · From $4,500 (three-stage + ceramic)
THE PROGRAM
01

What multi-stage paint correction actually is.

Single-stage correction levels the clear coat with one cutting compound and one finishing polish — the right answer for a year-old daily that’s seen one bad car wash. Two-stage adds an intermediate polish for deeper defect removal on a paint surface that’s lived through three or four winters. Three-stage is what brings a concours entry back to factory — heavy cut, intermediate refine, final finish — and is what we run on most show-prep work.

02

Ceramic coating — when correction is worth keeping.

Correction lasts only as long as the protection over it. We layer 5-year prosumer systems for daily-driven vehicles and 9-year professional systems for collector cars that won’t see the surface again until the next correction cycle. Ceramic doesn’t replace PPF — it sits on top of paint or under PPF, depending on the program — but it locks the corrected surface against contamination and makes maintenance washes hold the finish.

03

Leather reconditioning — interior to factory.

We use the Colourlock system for crack repair, dye matching, and full hide reconditioning. Recent work includes a Porsche 911 interior return-to-factory after eight years of UV bleach and a Range Rover hide-and-Alcantara mixed-surface deep clean. Leather work runs alongside the paint program; the car leaves with both surfaces signed off.

04

What concours-level actually means.

Concours is the standard used by elite show judges: no holograms, no buffer trails, no swirls visible under any light source, leather reconditioned to factory, trim and badging spec, engine bay decontaminated to delivery condition. We work to that standard on every car, not just show entries. If a daily-driven Macan walks out the same way a Pebble Beach entry does, the bay has its bar in the right place.

FAQ

Common questions. Paint Correction & Detail.

Q/01How long does paint correction take?
Single-stage takes 1–2 days. Two-stage runs 2–3 days. Three-stage multi-stage on a luxury or exotic typically runs 3–5 days depending on paint condition, colour, and final-finish target. Every correction includes a final inspection under multiple light sources.
Q/02Is ceramic coating worth it on a $200K car?
Yes, with caveats. Ceramic locks a corrected paint surface against contamination and dramatically reduces wash-induced micro-marring. It is not a rock-chip shield — that’s what PPF is for — but it pairs with PPF and turns scheduled maintenance into a real, hold-the-finish program rather than a wash-cycle that re-introduces defects every visit.
Q/03What is multi-stage paint correction?
Multi-stage correction uses two or three sequential polishing steps to level clear coat, refine the surface, and finish to a defect-free baseline. It is the only correction depth that will pass a sun-gun inspection on dark paint. Single-stage is appropriate for newer or lightly-used surfaces; multi-stage is what concours-level work requires.
Q/04How long does paint protection film last?
Professionally installed Ultrafit paint protection film carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty against yellowing, cracking, and delamination. In Pacific Northwest conditions, the film typically performs well past the warranty window if washed correctly and not exposed to chemical contamination.
Q/05How much does PPF cost in Seattle?
Full-body PPF on a luxury or exotic vehicle at PACMods starts at the upper end of the Seattle market because we work exclusively with concours-grade Ultrafit film and back every install with a 10-year warranty. Partial coverage (front-end, track package, or high-impact areas) starts lower. Request a private estimate for a vehicle-specific quote.
Q/06What paint protection film do you install?
PACMods installs Ultrafit — a top-tier self-healing paint protection film with a 10-year warranty. It is optically clear, hydrophobic, and swirl-resistant; we select the coverage tier and finish (gloss or matte) per vehicle and intended use, from daily-driven streets to dedicated track time.
Q/07How do I pay, and do you take a deposit?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments. Payment is due on completion, before the vehicle leaves, unless the written quote says otherwise. A deposit may be required where the build needs parts we order in and those parts come to more than $500 — it covers the order, and it is set out on the written quote before any work starts. We do not bill insurance carriers, so the number on your written quote is the number you pay.
Q/08Do you work with insurance companies?
PACMods is an independent shop by intention and does not work with insurance carriers. We perform cosmetic and collision repair on a direct-pay basis for owners who want concours-quality work without the carrier-driven shortcuts that compromise luxury vehicles. We can help you understand what an insurance reimbursement might cover, but the work itself is between you and us.

I had a great experience at Prestige Automotive Customs. I came in for an oil change and also needed my new battery registered and coded. They went above and beyond by taking the time to make sure everything was done properly and answered all of my questions while I waited. You can tell they genuinely care about the quality of their work rather than just rushing customers through. It’s refreshing to find an honest shop that takes pride in what they do. Fair pricing, great attention to detail, and excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back for future maintenance and would highly recommend Prestige Automotive Customs to anyone looking for a trustworthy mechanic.
